it does, however, change things around a little. i wonder how many (we'll use the word 'forms') the flood has. they may or may not have a hive mind, but they are supposed to be intelligent. new host, new dna to plug with (or, just organs and stuff) and a new brain to probe. if they do "consume all" (which we can back up with alot of examples) then they would have to have an interesting method of attacking all life forms (and, figuring them out - remember, not all viruses can attack all creatures). so, HOW is it intelligent, and what part of this comes from the creatures it attacks? guitly spark tells us that creatures of sufficient mass and (or?) cognative ability are liable to be attacked by the flood. i wonder if they also have to be carbon based? and what happens if they are stupid? it would have been interesting had the original halo's ambient life been left in the game. massive flood-o-sauris' to shoot down would have been fun, but an intriguing spin.
