Yes, I think the Covenant was after something too.

You know how the Spartans in FOR practiced a mission to capture a Covenant vessel, the Covenant might have done similar training exercises. They were just waiting for the opportunity to use that training for some reason. Can you see an Elite commander telling his superiors that his team can capture that Spartan, just give him the opportunity?
