In Response To: Update from *Ar-Isildur Memorial/Lan Party (guy who doesn't post....too often)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am so moved and proud of your emails regarding our son and your relationship with him. As his parents, we were utterly overwhelmed by the goodness, sincerity, and love expressed by your messages to us and each other.

During the last month of Brian's life, Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh was bombarded with emails addressed to Brian. Hundreds of emails, cards, and gifts flowed into his room from all over the world. He would quietly listen as we read them and smile when we got to the name of the sender.

The Miguel Chavex-trio (frogblast & Mark Levin) were wonderful at the memorial service. They read many of your letters. If there were doubters about what good could come of the Internet, they were put to rest with your words. You inspired and helped define a new generation of young people. I am proud of my son and those of you that knew him and called him your friend.

Ewing's Sarcoma (a rare bone cancer) attacks mostly young men in their mid teens. Since it is so rare, few research dollars are available to seek a cure and many of the treatments are adapted from other, more common cancers. We are establishing a Brian Morden Foundation to zero in on this deadly killer of adolescent men and women. Brian's courageous fight will continue in us as we "pick up his flag" and face down Ewing's Sarcoma. Helping defeat this monster will give meaning and purpose to his suffering and death. It is fitting that Brian's sign would be <3 (a heart), because it was his passion for quality gaming and love of his fellow gamers that gave him so much pleasure.

We miss him so deeply, yet our hearts are lifted by your love and compassion for our son. Clearly, he had great taste in friends.

With respect and admiration, Fred Morden (Brian's dad)
