: I hope you understand where I'm coming from. If not never mind. I do understand where you're coming from. As ever 343GS's statement is a bit ambiguous, which is what leads to all this speculation :) I don't challenge the fact that the Infection Forms can create Carriers, which create more Infection Forms, and so on. In fact, I think that this is probably the main way the Flood spreads, i.e. through Infection Forms. I suppose it all boils down to interpretation of "small rangers" and "spores". I am still not convinced that Rangers = Carriers, in fact I do believe that Rangers = Infection Forms. This implies that the "spores" are small and spore-like :) and they are what cause the genetic mutation. If this is true, then my point is that there is another way that the Flood can spread, i.e. Flood spores from infected hosts such as Warriors. Now, you have a good point where you ask why do the Warriors try to kill you? Well, in the game, the Infection Forms will also kill you if your shields are depleted. But if you are dead, does this stop you being used as a host? I don't know. The Flood Anatomy pages state that the controller Infection Form uses the body's life support systems, hence how you can kill them with the shotgun. But this could mean that the body needs to be relatively intact and relatively fresh - i.e. the life support systems (heart, lungs, etc.) are still functional enough, even though the original owner may be brain dead. So, if the Warriors kill you, then maybe you can still be infected for a short while after you're dead. To be honest, I'm not sure, and it's mostly down to interpretation of 343GS's statement. However, I still believe that he means Rangers = Infection Forms, and that Spores are exactly that, spores, like with a fungus. Ciarán. |
