In Response To: The end of one era, the start of a new era (Miguel Chavez) : Let's not forget that Halo PC/Mac is only a few months away... we're going to
And pfhilms, too! Anyway, most of us have seen this before... it's only now that there is the spectre of an online component that map and saved game hacking have gotten a bad name. It used to be "oh that's so cool" and "I wanna try it"... People hacked Pathways into Darkness to get things that were in the game but not implemented for the edification of the PiD fan crowd. Hamish hacked the Captured map in Marathon 2: Durandal to see what things looked like outside the prison cell you were locked in. Lots of people hacked Myth maps to discover all sorts of interesting things. In fact, the first 3rd party Myth map was ENTIRELY built by hacking it together! It's only with Halo and its up to now closed architecture that getting into places where you are not supposed to has taken such significance. But I don't worry: All True Bungie Fans Know What a VidMaster Is. And in corollary: All True Bungie Fans Know What a Trickster Is. Plus we've had a firm rule about documentation around here. I'm sure some people are going to try to pass of hacked tricks as genuine tricks but we will figure them out and then have the liar killed. I think I've come up with some Bungie Game Domination Rules!... Bungie Game Domination Rules 1) Dominate by being a VidMaster. Once you have done everything possible: 2) Dominate by Trickery. Once you have done all the tricks: 3) Dominate by Hacking. Well all know the Spazeroids will approach the list in the reverse order. In fact, they never get beyond #3. |
