Re: Halo 1.5 (exactly what you think)

In Response To: Halo 1.5 (not what you think) (Mr Yun)

: No not an add-on or upgrade.

: Everyone will agree that we need something to keep us busy until H2. And
: Microsoft can never have enough money. Seems like a perfect match.

: Why doesn't Bungie make a new Halo, based on the original Halo engine (it's
: such a waste to see the engine scrapped after one game).

: I propose a Halo "Directors Cut" or Halo "Substance", if
: you will: Like Metal Gear Solid: Substance: It could feature more of the
: original Halo but from different perspectives. Maybe you play as Keyes
: after he crash lands the Autumn before he is captured. Or as a Covenant
: Elite Assaulting incoming Marines or accidentally unleashing the flood. Or
: Cortana....who just sat there.

: They could add Covie and human skins to the multiplayer games and feature
: more maps.

: Bungie could use the same maps weapons and engine. I won't buy that they dont
: have the resources, programers, or artists...they would rake in more
: money. And I wouldn't have to have the H2 trailer running a loop on my
: computer 24/7.

You just don't get it do you?

*Quotes from the Halo Rumor Control Database*

"Q What can you tell us about the rumors that Bungie will release an expanded version of Halo called Halo Gold or Halo Online especially for Xbox Live? Will Microsoft will offer a trade-in discount or rebate to people who have already bought the game?
A There will not be a Halo Gold or Halo Online. Thus, there will be no trade-ins or rebates. :-)

We will not release a Halo game with explicit support for the Xbox Live network until Halo 2 ships."

There you have it, straight from the Horse's mouth.

If work was started now on a Halo 1.5, it would finish around summer 2003 or so. As in not very far from the Halo 2 Release date. Perhaps with the port of Halo to the PC/Mac platform, the archetecture for the game will be opened up and you can mod the game to your heart's content.

Heck you already obviously have in your possession a computer, spend the funds to buy PC/Mac Halo and let Bungie put all their efforts into making Halo 2 the most kickass game ever, instead of splitting into 3 development teams to make a rehash of an already released game.

That's just not the Bungie way. Heck if you get good at making mods for PC/Mac Halo, you might even be able to get a job at Bungie by demonstrating your excessive ammounts of sack. Bungie is hiring, so what are you waiting for? Start drawing up levels, writing scripts, learning code, and setting up encounters.

Take some initiative, don't just sit back and say (and I'll translate for you) "Wow I'm bored already, I already finished Halo and I want to play some different levels, but I'm too impatient to wait for Halo 2, please delay your plans for world domination Bungie, give me a watered-down sequel, I think that's what I need to be happy."

But you know, it never is enough.
