He made it up on the spot once he saw which ships he was up against. Since you didn't read the book, I'll point out something that didn't really come across well in the movie... he drops the nuke right at the beginning before he even hits the first Covenant craft, and just lets it sit there until he finishes orbiting the planet. That's where that big fake-looking explosion came from ;-). I did drop a metal box there to indicate where the nuke was, but it was too small and is completely invisible in the finished product. :-( | |
