I noticed the AotC bridge thing a while back, but it was during coop. It's easier just to use your buddy's head as a ladder ;). Never did it in single player..then again, I never really tried.

Apparently, though, this trick only works for level 5. In level 8, you'll mess up the scripted sequences and the doors will be locked
