Eh? They don't reproduce????????LoL, ok. Maybe then they are AIs or perhaps ghosts or spirits... c'mon, you have to accept some basic biological tenets. If a species doesn't reproduce then how the heck does a species maintain it's existence over time.

Good observation about the respitory device. Obvious, striking, blatant physical differences also suggest that they are quite different species. They even bleed different colors.
