It was my thought that Covenant are a alliance of different races of different planets, not limiting them to the type of creature they are.

Also, we do not know how the covenant reproduce, or if the even DO reproduce. So they theortically could be mammals, or something along those lines.

We know that at least the grunts are from a different area of space other that the rest of the covenant, because of their respiratory condition. Allthough this could be siputed by saying they are from an artic part of a covenant homeworld. Oh well. Carry on.
