In Response To: One more note regarding the Human/Forerunner Link (Liquidex) It seems to me that it's very possible that 343GS is having another case of mistaken identity. Just as the MC isn't the "reclaimer" that 343GS says, it's very possible that 343GS is thinking MC is actually a Forerunner. I won't get into a synopsis of a huge e-mail I sent to Louis Wu (sorry about that, couldn't find an e-mail address for the story page itself =), but the short gist of it is - we look, at least in form and shape, like the Forerunner. 343GS makes a comment in The Library about MC needing to upgrade to class 12 suit/armor from MC's current class 2 (which also indicates to me that the R&D people of the MJOLNIR suits are working off of a Forerunner (Jjarro? =) design/artifact). Let's make this more interesting, while I'm at it. In the 3rd Cortana letter, she says "you seem to be their devil". This coincides with what the Grunts chatter when frightened, "It's the devil". It could be that the Covenant know a lot more about the Forerunner than the story of Halo itself leads us to think. Also working off the idea that the MJOLNIR armor has other Forerunner foundations, the Covenant may see MC as something more akin to an actual Forerunner. The Devil was an angel before his fall from grace, would not MC look like something of Forerunner design, except heretical in the way he kills Covenant? They might know humans look similar to them, yet know we are not the Forerunner. This could also be why (as explained in FoR) the Covenant have been nothing but genocidally aggressive towards humans - we may present a false idol of sorts. The bible preaches against the worshipping of false idols, so what do you do when faced with a living breathing idol that is, in it's very existance, an afront to your religion? | |
