Possibly, why not? Rob McLees worked out the bolt travel when designing the rifles (see interview), and Ron Cobb (artist and designer on 'Alien','Star Wars' etc ad infinitum) likes to put the stress tolerances, thrust ratings etc on his production designs. I imagine it helps the thought processes... Re. the Pelican, I'd go for hydrogen fuel myself, which would produce exhaust flames, creates only water vapour as combustion waste which wouldn't damage the Pillar of Autumn's air scrubbers, and would mean that the Pelicans could refuel by scooping ordinary water then 'cracking' it to obtain the hydrogen; tactically useful as no need for refuelling bases etc. The science has been known for ages, the technology exists now, so I imagine it'd be pretty advanced by Halo's day. |
