Possible Theory on Pelican power source

In FoR we're told that the Warthog is electrical, but we're never told what the Pelican is powered by. I was watching Red Planet, and I got an idea. When they are in the ship on the way to Mars, Val Kilmer was telling another crew member about AMEES power supply. A micro fusion battery, or something along those lines. It would power that robot for 8 years, and that was set in 2057. I think it would be safe to assume that by the point in time Halo takes place, man would have mastered producing fusion energy. Just a theory...
