Riding on top of pelicon

I have three questions. First, can anyone give me some tips on gernade jumping, I almost always wind up killing myself. Second, AotCR level, in the part with the bridge and the pelican that flies over, is possible to use a gernade jump to land on the as pelican that flies over the bridge lowers to let the fire team out. Has anyone done this or found a way to slide down the cliffside? If you could do that, you would have alot more marine survivors.
