Hmm. I didn't see an Elite anywhere on my side but I suppose he could he could have been high on the opposite bank. How could hitting a tree kill the Elite (with full shields) when I can hit a wall and it doesn't kill me? Just asking. You're explanation makes sense if it isn't a bug.
