I'm not too sure...but try to imagine, if you will, if the Hunters--at one point in Halo's development--consistently kept their exposed backs to a wall thus denying you the easiest way of dispatching them.

Who knows. Maybe it was an enemy that didn't make the cut. Maybe it was an AI feature that didn't make the cut.
