In Response To: Re: Halo Bulletin (With SPOPS summary) *SP* (Louis Wu) : Interesting. I guess I agree with this, in principle... but my takeaway from : the Wired article was quite different. Rather than seeing this rewrite as : being 'flexible', I wondered about the overall vision of the author; if : you write a piece to have feeling or meaning or emotion or whatever, and : then after the builders get finished with the gameplay piece that doesn't : fit with your original content, you go back and rewrite the entire thing, : using that gameplay as your BASE... what happened to your original vision? I am jumping in here blind and haven't read much of the topic. Perhaps there shouldn't be any sanctity in 'original vision'? Maybe it is okay to make whimsical/required changes. I tend to hang on to my own 'original visions' come hell or high water. Time passes and I look at the 'original visions' again and I realize they were just a temporal concept. Often I realize, I could have conceived of something better or equally as good but different. My mind was closed to the idea of change. So it appears 343i made some quick changes. Sitcoms/Soaps are rewriting on the fly everyday. Sometimes they work, sometimes not so much. Maybe I should have stayed out of this?
