In Response To: I love you, Wu. (munky-058) : Hit them with facts! They're defenseless against reality... I see you like facts. I've got some facts too! More relevant ones, in fact! Wu's counter-argument of, "You shouldn't be upset about the Boltshot because it only causes a small percentage of your OVERALL deaths" doesn't really do it for me. It doesn't add up because Halo 4 is a game where the vast majority deaths occur at the medium to long ranges. The Boltshot is only effective at close range, so it makes sense his OVERALL deaths by it would be really, really low. I feel that these following questions will paint a more accurate picture of the Boltshot's overall strength. 1.) How does the Boltshot compare to his deaths by other sidearms? 2.) How does the Boltshot compare for his deaths by other inherently close-quarter weapons? So, using the same playlists Wu did I have compiled the totals. The results are below! *After spending five minutes trying to understand Waypoint's layout...*

Total Matchmaking Deaths - 1662 (1625 sans Flood.) Boltshot - 40/1625 - 2.46%
Total deaths by close-quarter weapons and sidearms - 278/1625 - 17.1% Total percentage of Boltshot deaths from close-quarter weapons and sidearms - 14.38% Quite a bit more than "just under 2.4%". - Boltshot killed him more than both sidearms COMBINED. - Boltshot killed him more than Scat Shot, Grav Ham, Shotgun and Sword COMBINED. Total deaths by close-quarter weapons and sidearms - 581/2826 - 20.55% Total percentage of Boltshot deaths from close-quarter weapons and sidearms - 11.87% - Boltshot killed me less than both sidearms combined, but I do play a lot of SWAT. - Boltshot also killed me more than Scat Shot, Grav Ham, Shotgun and Sword COMBINED. - Melee takes the day in CQC, as per Halo tradition. ______________________________________________ The biggest thing I take away from this.
I believe that the Boltshot will generally be the dominant sidearm you will be killed by in matchmaking. I am likewise willing to bet that most people will be killed more by a Boltshot than the other two sidearms combined. Unless, of course, you're a SWAT junkie. (I wish I could filter those games out for more accurate results, like how Flood wasn't counted. Oh, well.) So, yes, I still believe that the Boltshot is too powerful of a sidearm and is worth all the complaining it receives.* As I've been saying for a while now, the Boltshot needs its primary fire beefed up a little and the secondary fire needs to be nerfed. A slightly beefed Plasma Pistol primary fire would also be a nice way to help balance out the sidearm balance as well. *(In fact, I knew this before I did this test because of the FACT that it's an easy to use 1sk weapon you can spawn with with lots of ammo, a fast reload time and it has headshot capabilities, but I digress...)
