In Response To: Re: My H4 review - Campaign (Gameplay and Story) (Louis Wu) : This blows me away. I just checked Waypoint - I have almost three times as : much Campaign playtime as you do, with three times as many kills (so we're : not playing all that differently) - and yet I have never ONCE experienced : this. This whole conversation bemuses me - I guess I'm with Bry in the : 'how is this such a big deal?' camp. I guess if I were killed multiple : times while hitting those switches maybe I'd be angry too... but I'm : thinking back over the campaign, and the vast majority of switches I can : remember aren't even near bad guys! (Those two in Infinity, right after : you go inside... I guess those are near bad guys. Never had anyone follow : me down those hallways to get to 'em, though.) Most of them come in empty : areas, where there's nothing near you! The way I see it is that you've played more than I have, yet this has happened to me without oddly enough happening to you. Difference in playstyles. Part of the reason you've played so much more than I have, I assume, is because you're enjoying campaign. I'm absolutely not enjoying it and have no desire to go back to it by myself. Parts were so tedious or boring to get through, I started bypassing enemies and sections, and unfortunately that leaves you quite exposed when button press situations come up. Other parts, well, my mistake when I've missed killing a few things and they attack. As for "the big deal" part of it, that's a great question. It's something I personally don't like. Whether or not it's gotten you killed, it has gotten me killed, and it disrupts gameplay in general in my opinion (I also feel it's poor gameplay design, whether used for loading purposes or not, but again, my opinion). I feel that the game and future Halo games would be much better off without them. And even then, I'd like to think that I didn't go out of my way to make a big thing out of this. : I dunno. I guess I just find it weird that this bothers people so much. I'm finding it weird that, in regards to what I just said, even though I absolutely can't stand this button push dynamic, that something that was hardly a major focus of mine has become the center of discussion when there are so many other actual gameplay design mechanics (repetitive, tedious chokepoints and missions) and the story itself worth looking at and complaining about. Frankly I'm more surprised that Cody Miller hasn't popped up to discuss the story. Well, actually no one really has aside from bryan. Either way, I don't like the button press, I think it should never be used in a future Halo title, and that's about that as far as my opinion is concerned on this matter.
