In Response To: Re: Halo Designs through the years. (Rice) : It does happen. I suspect it wont anymore, though. It's about time that Halo : has had a set standard of visual design, and you can't convince me it did : before. Aside from the Warthog, which finally changed in Halo 4, the : visuals have constantly been different. The original trilogy (and ODST) had a pretty logical evolution in their visual design due to the enhanced graphics possible with each iteration. The biggest jumps they did have, like Master Chief's armor, were explained within the story. Besides those things, you can see the basic contours and lines found in Halo 1 in 2 and 3 as well. They've just been enhanced with more detail. With Legends, Reach, Anniversary, the comics, the new book covers, and now Halo 4, those design changes stopped being "evolutions" and became "deviations" and "re-interpretations" (for the most part). So I think the era of visual consistency passed away some years ago. Those first few years were hard for me, being a visual person, because I wanted the boat to stay on course. But now, it's impossible to see those visual changes as errors or folks not paying attention - now I realize the creators involved simply weren't interested in that visual aspect and don't consider it important for the universe anymore. They wanted the boat to swerve around. :) Even though I don't prefer that approach, accepting it allows me to enjoy the new game without getting my brain on the fritz for every little 'deviation' made (though it's still hard to handle some of the big things like the Pelicans, FuD, etc.). Same goes for the deeper lore. The trade-off involved with accepting this approach as a fan? Although I'm less frustrated by the changes, I'm also not paying attention to the designs and details that I used to revel in anymore, because I know they're going to just keep changing every few months.
