I don't know the answer but, in lieu of an answer, I will distract you with this... The fluid in the tubes could be a molten fluoride salt. You can see a test tube with a molten fluoride salt and you can see that it is see through (image is about half way down the page). I also read somewhere on the webs that MFS have the viscosity of water. This ties into my Lekgolo headcannon In my imagination the fluid acts as a combined health-spa-mud-pack/pro-biotic-food-source/lazy-worm-transport-mechanism ;-) Radiation from the molten salts feed the worms and the bulk movement of the fluid sweeps them from A to B. And the bath is probably good for the skin ;-)
