Yeah, I can't say I was ever really bothered by the HUD/HMD/whatever, because I was too busy playing the game. It's like the difference between driving a car and riding in a car. When you're the driver, you're paying attention to the road and the signs and the other cars. When you're a passenger, you have time to notice dirt and rain and bugs on the windows. (Also, I will forever think of it as "the hud" because "the hmd" is hard to say.)
