I REALLY don't understand the conclusion that adding the visual image of Cortana creates distance between the characters. Or for that matter, her and the player. If anything it brings her closer, it makes her more personal, because you're now engaging twice as many senses when she interacts with you. A disembodied voice in my head feels far more "distant" than seeing an image and hearing a voice. Tell me honestly; do you feel "closer" to a person when you talk to them through a door, or face-to-face?
