Cortana appearing on the screen makes no sense to me. She's not physical and she's not projecting her avatar anywhere else, yet she's for some reason obstructing the Chief's field of view with a simulated image of herself. Why? The Chief is used to just listening to her; I'd expect him to be weirded out by seeing her face on the HUD for the first time. Besides, it creates a disconnect between the Chief and Cortana - the idea is that she's literally inside the Chief's head. Not the best way to integrate the fiction into the games if that's 343i's goal.
