It's not that I find Halo 2's box art especially pleasing to the eye. On the contrary, the almost garish contrast can be off-putting. But it gets your attention, doesn't it?

And at its most basic level, Halo is a game about war. War should not be glitzed and glammed up, made to look cool or slick. War is ugly and hard. Halo 2's box art screams conflict. So it is extremely effective as advertising.
