In Response To: Re: In a word: (yakaman)
The thing that always irks me when I go back to Halo 3 is the FoV. It's not too bad when I've got a 16:9 screen to play on, but in 4:3 it's about 55 degrees. Horrible tunnel vision.
Back when it came out, I tried to play split-screen when possible, and that's probably part of why it was so tolerable; Halo 3's split-screen FoV is a reasonable ~92 degrees. Pretty poor compared to the split-screen FoV in, say, Halo 1*, but far better than the SP split-screen FoV.
*As long as we're talking about the original game. CEA's split screen is eye-bleeding crap; it has the opposite problem of Halo 2's idiotic horizontal split when in 16:9. The lesson to take home is that 4:3 is a REALLY good aspect ratio for split-screen play, while 16:9 is a HORRIBLE aspect ratio for split-screen play (at least if you're not willing to render with ridiculously huge horizontal FoV's, which no developer seems to be), and it's actually really awesome that Reach uses a 4:3 window for split-screen.
