In Response To: Who's the writer for Halo 4? (Archilen) : Now that Staten is out of the question, the next best thing to me would be : Eric Nylund. He's intimately familiar with the expanded universe and the : characters, since he created most of it. Now that 343i is bringing more EU : elements in the games, he'd be right at home. Despite Bungie's fantastic work, Halo's story still remained mostly "videogame pulp" in my eyes until The Fall of Reach sparked my interest in the universe behind the game. Suddenly, the Chief was a character that I sympathized and cared for, the Covenant were an unstoppable juggernaut that I feared, and the events on Halo were the climax of humanity's desperate fight for survival. While all of these things were hinted at or subtly felt during the game, it wasn't until The Fall of Reach that they were made manifest. I don't know how much of The Fall of Reach was Bungie and how much was Nylund. All I know is that it was freakin' awesome, and Nylund had a part in it. I've vastly enjoyed the rest of Nylund's Halo novels as well. I can only hope he is involved with Halo 4 in some way.
