In Response To: Re: Thank you, Microsoft. (Vandle Valsher) : I have no doubts that Blomkamp has made good things in the past. I really : enjoyed the Halo: Landfall videos. But that exact quote is what I have a : problem with. Earlier in the article, he told us his vision for the movie. : I didn't like it at all. I don't think it would have been cool, I think it : would have been contrived and lame. : Your second paragraph is the exact kind of overgeneralizing, bandwagon hate
: Ultimately this is all a matter of perspective and opinion. My tastes are
I'll ignore the condescending undertone. While you're right that I wasn't there and I don't know all of the people who were involved, what we have to go off of is Microsoft's past dealings and also the information available in this aritcle. It is a fact taken from numerous sources that Microsoft's terms for this movie were way too demanding. It says this multiple times. Now while I understand that every company is out to get their fair share (and in many cases, much more), it was Microsoft that came out guns blazing. Of course there were other contributing factors such as Universal and Fox having to split the profits and also the money the producers were promised, but ultimately it was Microsoft's inexperience with Hollywood nuances and the arrogance that they were going to be able to have complete control and do things their way. I'm not going to go on because all of this is spelled out in detail in the article, but it's pretty ridiculous to just say that I jumped on the "hate train" on Microsoft when they have earned the reputation that they have. My opinion is an informed one, and if you read the article you would know that.
