In Response To: Re: To clarify (Leviathan) I think unlockables in multiplayer is different from unlockables in single-player. And incentives are different depending on what you do in the game. However, I think you both are confusing what an incentive is. An incentive is something that spices up the game. Like how in Dead Rising you can unlock a real megaman blaster after you beat the game the first time. It's not needed to beat the game, but it is a fun thing to unlock and mess around with the second time you play. That's an incentive to keep playing. What is not an incentive is forcing you to unlock something in the game just so you need to progress in the level. When a game forces you to do something that you shouldn't need to do, then it is a bad game design. Especially now when games have this whole big motif where you can choose what you how you want to tackle the problem. Will Halo 4 do this? I am not sure. I am afraid Louis Wu that you're a bit harsh to berate others feelings about what Frankie talked about in Halo 4. The fear that it becomes a Call of Duty clone is there. I have it as well. Are they going to do it? maybe some of us are jumping the gun a little, but we don't want see Halo just copy things from other games and not have something original to it. Remember how pissed some people got because they think everyone was trying to ripoff Halo with the regen-health? Even if Halo was not the first game to do it, people still blamed it for it. This is just the reverse. 343i is under a lot of pressure and they have big shoes to fill. I am sure they know this and I know they will respect the community and we will respect them. They haven't given us any reason to doubt them, but still We want to show them we still want that Halo feel and not just a rip-off of another game. New features are fine, but we don't want clones. If they managed to pull this off AND keep the balance that is in the game industry, we might see a whole new way of playing games using a hybrid set up that is more fun than we think. I am not going to dismiss 343i just yet, I am just saying my concerns and hope they listen and say "We don't just want a clone. We want something that takes the best of both worlds and creates something new that everyone can enjoy." The other stuff I can easily overlook if the story is great which I have no doubt it will be.
