In Response To: Present thoughts about the future *long* (Hedgemony)
Hello, Hedge. As you may know, my name is Bones. I've been visiting HBO pretty much every day for the past eleven years, over one-third of my life. I too have seen the community grow and change; maybe from a different perspective (forum lurker turned poster), but I've been here the whole time. Halo has been, and always will be, a major part of my life. Halo has given me so much, an unimaginable debt really; one that I can never truly repay.
Halo entertained my thirst for adventure, expanded my growing mind, and inspired me to dream. Reading crazy story theories into the wee hours of the morning, drooling over new environment designs, and drawing up multiplayer map strategies were the fruits of those gifts. Halo helped me form friendships with people I see on a daily basis and others who I wish I could. Weekend LAN parties, Matchmaking nights, Co-op playthroughs and write-ups, and Custom game events all helped me form an instant bond with people I'd never met before. Halo brought my family together, giving my younger siblings and I an exciting and wonderful shared hobby. While fashion and boys now hold the monopoly on my sister's thoughts and time, the endless Saturday mornings we spent in The Silent Cartographer and Assault on the Control Room will forever remain among my most sacred memories.
I understand your frustration with the community as of late, and I agree with your call for harmony. However, when I visit HBO, I don't see just hate or refusal to change. I see a great deal of love. I see a community that cares, that wants the best for Halo, that wants to voice their opinion because they care so very, very much. I think that we're going through a rough patch with the transition, but I think that deep down the community realizes that 343 is working hard and holds Halo's future, and our best interests, at heart.
Personally, I may not agree with 343's decisions. I may dislike certain changes they make or don't make, and I'll certainly tell them how I feel and how I think they can improve. I'll do that because I love Halo, and I care so very much. No matter what happens, there is one reason I will be forever grateful to 343 -- for giving me the chance to do so.

Thank you for giving Halo a future, and for giving me the chance to make new memories with those I love.
