In Response To: Re: So I guess it is going to be "Call of Halo." (Quirel) : "Designed for those types." : What types? Them thar competitives. : The types of maps used for firefight? Why can't multiplayer maps be designed
See Schooly's posts, because his have taken a more mature route than my own sarcasm filled posts about why I think it's stupid (keep reading for more, with some seriousness injected). : The type of player who plays casual? If competitive players are so 'leet',
They can, but it's pretty funny that the motivation behind this change is because of "skilled" players who either learn the respawn times or, gasp, actually know where things spawn. Who knew that knowing things and being resourceful was something to frown upon. Hence my thinking this is a pretty ridiculous joke at this point. I absolutely can adapt, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still a joke (my opinion). : The type of player who can remember more than one weapon spawn point? I guess
Well you see, those non-competitives out there are prone to disabilities like not being able to remember spawn points of weapons or even how long it takes for said weapons to spawn! For those who are capable of knowing or remembering by using such disgusting and unspeakable evil abilities, this must be stopped. My goodness gracious, could you imagine if players knew where something might be or when it might be there? It would just be completely unfair for those who didn't, and all the fun would be completely removed from all the games! Travesty! Blasphemy! Hyperbole! They need a Banhammer so bad, but 343 Industries is a kind and loving company, so rather than ban they decide to randomize. It makes sense, yo. : Enlighten me as to the difference between a firefight map and a multiplayer
Well considering I can't recall a single FPS game that actually has done something like randomizing weapon spawns (though I'm sure there just has to be an example or two out there that someone's going to throw my way), I'm not quite sure it's a logical thing to do, especially since most every other FPS hasn't had an issue with this. 343 Industries is trying to solve a problem that isn't a problem for most likely the vast majority of players (since, as has been made clear time and time again by Microsoft and many others, the majority of players are middle of the road or occasional players whereas the competitive are the minority). But aside from that, Firefight plays much differently than Matchmaking. The enemy's movements are predictable and you can generally always tell where they'll be coming from (except for when those drop pods of enemies come down). Those Covenant also aren't going for the random weapon drops and are generally nowhere nearby when given the chance (plus time between waves to obtain them). I could go on and on about where teams might be at, the altering of play styles and working together in an attempt to get to a grenadefest to see who can get the power weapons, and a number of other factors that are most likely guaranteed to make this into the joke I see it becoming, but I'd rather let the more serious posts go to Schooly or others who get why, whether for "casuals" or "hardcore" player, this is a poor decision on the part of 343 Industries.
