I hate drips and drabs of 3rd hand information. Half of it is screaming WE WANT TO BE LIKE COD but you're not given any sense of the overall game so you can't really see it in context.

For example, for Halo's multiplayer as it has traditionally existed, instant respawn isn't good, because time in the respawn screen was part penality for failing in a battle (and conversely reward for the other team) so the objective could be completed unopposed for a few (brief) seconds. But if you can respawn instantly, you're straight back into the battle as if your death never happened. The only penalty then is map-positioning and pick-up weapon advantages to the surviving players. Notionally then, and especially with sprint, maps have to be larger so killing someone does actually get them out of the fight for a time, even if they are still involved in some sort of 'gameplay' by traversing the map.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with this as long as the rest of the game supports it, but boy, the halo traditionalists are going to throw an absolute fit.

Drop-in, drop-out makes sense for most games. Though naturally I hope stats/rewards/investment won't screw you over if you drop into a game mid-way through, and of course I hope gametypes and extra early-end conditions would favour simply ending games if one side gets a massive point and people advantage rather than hanging around to try and get more people in.

Conversely, I hope this means they are taking skill-ranked games to a new level - with the start-together, finished-together format (I have no idea what to call it lol, the way games are currently done in Halo). It was rather lacking in Reach.

No Firefight and no Elites sounds... well... not what I would have done. They have never realised the full potential of Firefight in Reach and I kinda resent them for that.

Not really buying Frankie's line that 'there will still be traditional halo in halo 4' - too much seems too different and we've barely heard anything. At this point I'm not expecting much more than a sad little playlists at launch called 'classic' that'll probably just die in a few months because previous games did that type of gameplay better and they'll be shoe-horning it into the very different Halo 4.
