Arithmomaniac was saying that using the physical appearance as a primary driver for the relationship would seem crass. Not simply continuing to use the same appearance.

(It's also somewhat dubious to argue that Cortana's later models are "more revealing" than the earlier ones due to graphical power. Just look at that exposed skin stuff on the Halo 1 model; far more overtly naked than anything we've seen since aside from concept art.)
