In Response To: Re: I'm at MLG Columbus and very sad... (SonofMacPhisto) : Why should Halo's value to you, or anybody, be tied to MLG? To say that it's : not as well suited to MLG as Starcraft (which is pretty clear, based on : some posts made in this thread) doesn't automatically devalue it or make : it any less special to you. : I doubt any of my favorite games will ever be used in MLG, and I couldn't
I don't know if you have ever been to a esport event or not (They are actually a lot of fun) In MLG there are 3 sections; The right section with one medium screen, the left section with one medium screen each with their own game. And the center stage which has 3 HUGE screens for the same game. Every event before Halo was on the center screen, hell at the event today somebody had a sign and started a chant saying "Long live Halo" It is clearly a sore spot for all the Halo fans and players now that their game is no longer top dog. It's just a little sad to see the game that essentially invented MLG become second stage to another game. It doesn't devalue my love of the franchise at all (I am a story first then we will consider multiplayer kind of guy... I just happen to be really good at that multiplayer.) I love the Halo story, that is my top priority, but when we actually do get to multi player I get VERY competitive (I'm competitive at everything not just Halo. Its my nature) I miss the old glory days of Halo 3 MLG tournaments where Halo was on the center stage, the crowd was oohing and awing over snipes and triple kills and such. This MLG event was a huge downer for me.
