In Response To: I'm at MLG Columbus and very sad... (Bryan Newman) : Why is Starcraft more popular than Halo? The game that created MLG is on the : minor screen instead of the tri screen... Sad times. : Oh Halo 4... Please hurry and save MLG. I certainly prefer watching Starcraft over Halo. It's just a much easier game to watch. In Starcraft you have an observer who can easily show the audience the state of the battlefield, and at a glance the situation in the game is easily discernible. Viewers can be thrilled watching a player plan a strategy and wondering if his opponent will find out or be able to counter. Halo is harder to watch. To appreciate the player skill, you need to see it first person. If you see it first person though, you don't get the complete view of the battlefield and game dynamic. Halo games do not really have a buildup of progression like Starcraft. Instead of an overarching game flow, it's more like a series of scuffles. You're always missing something, whereas in Starcraft the observer perspective is perfect for everything.
