As I played through the first time I thought over and over that having the forces of the galaxy building the giant mega weapon that nobody was even sure worked, or how it worked, or if it wouldn't just kill everything, was a really bad idea. Turns out it was. :p
The ending was crap, but it kinda seemed fitting with all the crappy plot points BioWare pulled throughout the series. Having the council just dismiss the reaper threat after the Citadel was first attacked. Killing Shepard for absolutely no reason other than a PR stunt. Having the Human Alliance not even bother to check on why its colonies were going missing. Etc. Mass Effect as a series had some good stories and moments along the way. ME3 had some truly great stories along the way. I mean I really enjoyed it, after the lame opening and up until the ending at least. But in the end it kinda felt like what you were doing, throughout the series, didn't much matter in the grand scheme of things. And what do you know, it didn't! It really really really didn't!
I suppose it makes me happy to be a Halo fan. Halo 3 ended superbly, and even pulled off causing lots of future speculation without angering the heck out of the fan base.
