I really did get the sense : that Bioware had a big idea on what drove the Reapers and a philosophical : quandary to go with it. They just implemented it in a clumsy and poorly : thought out manner at the expense of an actual resolution. I suppose I can understand this, to an extent. Yes, in some ways, it would've been nice to see what happened after the battle. My thoughts are this: When you were given the choices, how did you feel? Confused? Angry? Sad? Disappointed? Isn't that exactly how Shepard would have felt? For that brief moment, the player literally is Shepard. The player is experiencing the exact same emotions as Shepard, who also had no closure, no idea what would happen to the galaxy after he made his decision. We know, and saw, only what Shepard did. Yes, the Mass Relays are destroyed. Yes, that's a major inconvenience to the galaxy. But it doesn't doom every species. Even without the Mass Relays, they're all capable of faster than light space travel. The galaxy is still accessible, just not as easily as before. It paints a bleak future for the Mass Effect universe, but one that is still workable. Hard times are ahead of every species in the galaxy, but that's war. I suppose it somewhat depends on the choice you made, as well. I chose the Destroy option, as that's the only one that made any sense to me. Yes, it's unfortunate that the Geth would have to die as well, especially considering the events of the game, but, as far as I'm concerned, that's the only one that made certain the Reapers were absolutely gone. I set out to destroy the Reapers, and that's what I did. I do understand why people are upset with the ending . . . I just don't happen to agree.
