In Response To: Could someone explain to me.. (RVideo) I wouldn't want Halo 4 to play identically to any past Halo game, as each has their own flaws. Halo 2 in particular was rife with glitches and poor weapon balance. Halo 3 played like Halo 2.5, fixing Halo 2's biggest issues, but it had its own issues as well. Reach has probably the most balanced weapon set and played much overall much better than Halo 2 or 3, but I'm not a big fan of armor abilities, or at least how they were implemented, i.e., players being able to spawn with jetpacks, camo, and armor lock. So, I don't mind Halo 4 being "it's own game" in the sense that H1, H2, H3, ODST, & Reach were all their own games. After all, every Halo game plays differently from every other Halo game to some degree. Having new weapons, new vehicles, new enemies, and so forth wouldn't bother me at all. So long as the weapons and other gameplay mechanics are consistent, reliable, and balanced, I'm fine. I liken the situation to classic 2D Mario. Sure Mario handles differently in SMB, SMB3, Super Mario World, and NSMB Wii, there are new power-ups and enemies added to each one (though there is a core set of power-ups and enemies that stays constant), but while they're all their own game, they are all distinctly Mario. What would bother me, though, is if Halo 4 lost the overall "feel" of Halo. Though they all play differently, all the Halo games have overarching similarities that a distinct Halo-ness to them. Halo 4 should not break radically from the classic Halo formula. When I play Halo, I want Halo-style gameplay. If I wanted something different, I'd go play another shooter. In other words, I wouldn't want rank-based "perks," kill steak bonuses, a cover system, or anything that makes Halo play less like Halo and more like Call of Duty, Battlefield, or Gears of War. Just let Halo be Halo.
