Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but are you saying my statement that my friends coming back to Reach because of the TU is a logical fallacy? I can assure you it's a fact. They have said as much. : FyreWulff's point was that maybe people are bored of the content (universal : fact for all games), and new, especially free content might get them : to play again for a bit to try it out. Or maybe you were referring to my initial point, that free DLC doesn't entice those long time Halo multiplayer gamers who gave up on Reach within a month or two. I don't think that's a hasty generalization at all. These gamers I'm referring to are the ones that played tons of H2 and H3 online for the entire life of each game, but when Reach came out, they dropped it within a month or two. This cannot be explained by simple boredom of the multiplayer mode. How would they have gotten bored when Reach had tons more playlists and gametypes at launch than any other Halo game? One month isn't even enough time to get bored of the default maps that shipped with Reach. They left the game because they didn't like Reach's gameplay. Pure and simple. TTL is a clan originating in Halo 2 and that's pretty much all we played at the time. I personally had over 75 friends online the day Halo 3 launched. But yet, two months after Reach, just a small percentage of TTL members were continuing to play Reach. Many of them sold the game for Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3. The reason generally offered was that they didn't like Reach's gameplay and they were so sure that they would never enjoy it that they sold it. This was really disheartening to see considering our community was founded on Halo. If Bungie was to offer all the DLC we have currently to them for free just two months after Reach released, a few might return, but the large majority of them had made up their mind about the gameplay and wouldn't return just for free maps. But now that the TU has changed the gameplay, there has been a renewed interest at TTL in Reach, more than a year after its launch. The TU has made Reach so enjoyable to these gamers that they are even purchasing the DLC. They're back for the TU, and they enjoy it so much, they're spending money on a game that they haven't played in a year. Now maybe you could say I'm wrong to extrapolate the TTL experience to the online community at large, but I don't think I am. Think of a game you really just despise playing (perhaps Call of Duty, that seems to be an HBO favorite to bash). What if Call of Duty offered you 10 free DLC maps? If you disliked the gameplay, would you go back and play just for those maps? If you hated the gameplay, then no amount of new maps would change your mind. But what if you heard they significantly tweaked the gameplay? That might interest you enough to try it.
