We tend to have very similar opinions about the TU in a lot of ways, and considering how often I screw around in Matchmaking and don't take it seriously, I'd definitely characterize myself as being one of the hardcore players, and I absolutely don't like the TU. I feel the TU benefits the more casual players by allowing them to get kills that wouldn't normally happen while punishing EVERYONE by the same measure of how deaths occur when they wouldn't normally. Overall skill is taken out of the overall experience and placed in the hands of luck, bleedthrough, and garbage. The DMR was already relatively borked and there was still the host/luck element, but now this has been doubled. It's unfortunate, honestly, but from my browsings of the MLG forums (not to mention Halo forums in general), there doesn't appear to be much thrill about the TU.
