Astronomy has always been a passion of mine to the point that I even took a couple of courses in astronomy and astrophysics it when it wasn't even for my degree. Just wanted to learn more. Plus I like maps of any kind. Halo can't really exist in a fictional galaxy now either. The best thing for 343i to do is get it right from now on. They didn't create a lot of this mess, but they did inherit it. There's even an error of sorts in Glasslands I found. Slipspace is kept vague (I imagine on purpose), but they have in the past let us figure out rough speeds or travel times at Slipspace. Given those, it tuns out that the Brunel system is ridiculously close to Earth. Even in an ONI ship I've calculated can do about 2.1 light years per day. It was mentioned in Glasslands that they can make the trip from Earth to the Brunel system in 48 hours. That puts it only a little more than 4 light years from Earth. That limits the choices to Alpha Centauri, or at a stretch a half dozen other stars and that's about it. And the Covenant were there. Why then didn't they find Earth much sooner?? Within the innermost circle around Sol on my map.
