In Response To: Re: I disagree completely (Revenant1988) : I just don't think that the TS is really to blame here in relation to the TU. : I DO think that the TU is influencing TS in the sense that if Player A was : bad with the pre TU DMR/NR and now they are better with it BECAUSE of the : TU then naturally the TS is going to shift for that player because the : game is now playing by different rules (same if a player was good with it : before and is bad now, or was good with it before and is BETTER with it : now, etc). I guess my point is, does the TU make you better? You could say the TU makes your shots more accurate, is more prone to headshots, etc. But it does that for ALL players in the game. So even though it's improving your accuracy, it's improving the enemy's by the same amount. In other words, if starting weapons in a game change from Plasma Rifles (inaccurate) to DMRs (very accurate), does that make the players better? Well, in the sense that more shots will hit over range, yes. In the sense of actual FPS skills such as aiming and strafing, no. So why do TU games seem to have more of a skill gap than Default games? I would argue that they don't, the TU just emphasizes the skill gap that has been present in all MM games. 343 has said nothing about changing MM code, so we can assume matches are being matched in the same way as before. So why are scores more lopsided in TU games? I believe the TU is doing a better job at letting the better player win more often. "Lucky" kills tend to blur the skill differences between players. As bloom is reduced, "lucky" kills are reduced. This leads to a more consistent outcome in encounters between two unequally skilled players. Is this a bad thing? Only when unequal players are matched often. And from the lopsided scores I see in many of my TU games, I am left to conclude that MM is not doing a very good job matching equally skilled players.
