In Response To: Re: So. Default Reach Remains Default Frankie? (RC Master) : I can't think of a single example where a game split into two after a Title : Update. Reach isn't split in two, it is still one game with multiple playlist and gametype variations. We've always had major differences in gameplay depending on playlists (SWAT, Action Sack, MLG). The TU has just added more gametypes to keep track of. : This indicates to me that, deep down, they know they went to far with the
Bleedthrough has always been in Halo, and I'm glad it's back. I'm not sure what you mean by consequences, but if you are referring to the Health Pack glitch, that is something that does not affect Matchmaking in a significant way. : But NOOO they're so concerned with appeasing the loud competitive minority, You say competitive like it's a bad thing. Competitive to me doesn't equal MLG four shots, it means strategy and skill and teamwork all combine to create an energetic and interesting game. I think a lot of people view themselves as competitive when the game starts. Otherwise, why not just look around at the skybox and lose every game? People like winning, they like slaying the other team, and they like weapons that don't miss every other shot at medium-long range. When Reach came out, the internet exploded with "DMR suckz" and "NO BLOOM." Now that the TU is out, there have been a lot of posts against the TU, but not nearly the outcry as against Bloom when Reach released. Until a Halo fan poll is completed, neither of us can say who is in the minority or majority. : SOO concerned with doing an MP
If Bungie was concerned with a consistent, unified, strong vision of Reach, they would not have included Infection, Race, Action Sack, Grifball, SWAT, or MLG. And that would be a very boring game. : I have 3 playlists with over 200 games played in Halo: Reach: BTB, Invasion
: Honestly looks like I'm going to be playing more 4v4 and 6v6 Slayer.... I have spread my 1600 games out over all the playlists, mostly focused on BTB, Annv. BTB, Team Slayer, and Grifball. I haven't noticed any increase in mutual beatdowns, but that could be my play style. And it's not like the TU is a one-sided thing: if you feel incredibly vulnerable, so does the other team. Play a bit more aggressively, go for that last headshot when you're low shields, the TU makes team shooting and coordination much more effective. I would just like to say that as much as you and others who want the TU to be forever erased, there are just as many who love the TU and think it's the best thing that ever happened to Reach (myself included). It's not like 343 is doing this just to make you mad, they saw an area of improvement, they've received good and bad reactions, and they are continuing forward with the TU. They have the official playlist stats, they have the official game plan for how Halo 4 will play. So I trust that they know what they are doing. Halo is their job, after all. :)
