: I don't understand why you think Frankie's quote, "Default Reach will
: remain Default Reach" means all the playlists will remain untouched.
: His quote definitely does not say how many Default Reach playlists there
: will be, only that there will be some, and that the gametypes inside will
: remain unchanged.
: Also, this quote is being taken out of context, I think. If I remember
: correctly, Frankie was responding to Fyrewulf's comments on the very first
: Zero Bloom game video on Pennance/Damnation. Fyrewulf was afraid zero
: bloom WAS the Title Update, that all of Halo would become zero bloom.
: Frankie said no, in essence, this is just a new gametype. Default Reach
: will stick around unchanged gameplay wise.
That's a lot of assumptions there. No, I did not assume it was the title update, since they had already clarified it was a separate gametype. My criticism was that they had clearly done nothing to balance the DMR out for zero bloom gametypes to counter the lack of bloom. I was told by Ellis and Frankie that I didn't have the whole picture and that there was more to the gametype. Turns out there wasn't, as I soon found out at Halofest and when the TU went live, everything presented in the video was exactly how the gametype ended up functioning. I don't really enjoy being fibbed to.
: TL;DR - Why would Frankie post such a "promise" more than once only
: to do an about face just months later? Either he is a gigantic troll that
: thinks it's a good idea to make his fanbase hate the game that provides
: his paycheck, or his comment was misinterpreted. Which is the more likely
: scenario?
343's already broken three promises they made. They pull the authority card just to save face with some of the loud sectors of the fanbase and then avoid and don't mention anything when it doesn't work out. They want all the praise and none of the criticism. They constantly bury their other employees and contradict each other all the time. It's gotten to the point where I wait a couple days after a 343 employee says something because Ellis or Frankie will do the "that post was inaccurate, you don't have the full picture / inaccurate information" post. They've done this to posts made by BS Angel, their community represenative, on the Waypoint forums. Maybe when they can figure out how to make up their mind on something, stand behind their shit, and present a unified front, I'll start giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Right now the company comes across as wishy washy, unable to stand behind anything they do. They outsource all their projects but are sure to put their name first in the billing each time. I still appreciate them saving Halo Wars' stats but since then, my good will towards them has been completely spent.
