It seems to me it's been working in that we're seeing people say, not "good thing I don't play any more" (though, granted, that wouldn't be so welcome here), or "this will make me stop playing" (not so much anyway), but "I'll be playing less", or "I'll only be in these playlists", meaning they've still been playing and may even continue, and of course you have people who like the changes or don't mind. It doesn't look like they've lost that many people because of this, and let's face it, the goal isn't so much to make everyone love Reach or like it better than other games as to get people to like it well enough to play sometimes, which hopefully will mean more continued XBL subscriptions.
Personally I like the changes except that bleed-through seems overdone (I'd say turn it down 10-25%) and the active camo armor ability may be less helpful to campers but it's still not that useful in general.
