In Response To: Re: I don't get all of this hate (Louis Wu) : I had this problem. It's gone now. I really, really doubt the people : complaining in this thread are complaining because of this. (If they are, : they're just being stubborn, because it's dumb to blame someone for a : problem they actually FIXED.) I never said it was still around; I took his question/statement and explained that this was one of the problems initially with the introduction of the TU. It has since been fixed, yes; but as he said- It doesn't make any sense if someone like him who hadn't played in a while (and was just watching people complain on forums) started playing today they wouldn't see what the fuss was about. I was just pointing out this was one of the issues at the start. It's easy to see what you are voting for now, before it was not. : Again, I don't think this is why people are complaining. (Personally, I'm
I guess it depends on who you play with Wu. If you are playing with people that are actively involved in the greater community and actually frequent a game forum or follow 343's updates or heaven forbid, read the messages that pop up when you load Reach after an update, none of the list changes are really a surprise. Aside from the HBO guys I play with I do have a group that are *the* definition of casual gamer (as in they just load the game and play, they don't check sites for news or updates regarding this stuff) and there was a lot of confusion going out to play and how guns would behave. It went from confusion to frustration because a lot of them couldn't remember what they were in. Admittedly, most of this was caused by the (then) issue above, but once they knew which lists were TU they abandoned them. I played a game recently in FFA Anniversary and did pretty good. Some guy sent me a message that he reported me for cheating/modding because there was no way I could kill him so easily with the pistol. Obviously, he just didn't understand the settings for that gametype but I think its safe to say that he is an example of the confusion to which I am referring. I still maintain, that the update should have been applied to all the lists at once. Its like ripping off a band-aid. By making the change universal, it becomes easier to get used to. You get used to it, or you don't play. Pretty simple I think. By only rolling it out in some lists, you just leave room for people who don't like it to keep complaining that playlist X is not like playlist Y etc. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall in all of my Halo MM that updates were distributed the way 343 is doing it now. So I'm just pointing out that while I don't like the changes, I could get used to them (as I have with all the others) if they distributed it in a more satisfying way. Personally speaking, I'm used to it now. I could have been much quicker if they did it 100%. It's not preventing me from playing, but I can see where it would prevent others. Of course someone like Chris, who just now got back into it isn't going to see what the fuss is about. He's been away long enough that he'd have to 're-learn' Halo anyway so the changes are easier to take, I think. For those who played as it happened, I think its fair to look at it like their world was turned upside down at first. But you're right, people need to just stop complaining about it because it appears that TU is here to stay. Or, just play customs.
