In Response To: Re: Yes! This is how I've always felt! ^ (Stephen L. (SoundEffect))

: If the books were not advertised as "official" and adopted as such
: in so many facets of the Haloverse, there'd be no need for this
: discussion. That they were makes them canon. As canon as the games.
: Official. I don't buy the multi-tiered crap. I do find it unfortunate yet
: preventable that things conflict. It happens because inadequate attention
: is paid to the overall continuity. Sometimes it's necessary to not pay
: close attention. Doesn't make for a cohesive whole though.

: Making it all fit together is as much a headache for the fans as it is the
: creators as different aspects have different priorities for different
: groups.

: It could have all meshed if everyone had the same vision about what was
: official from the start. It's 10 years later and now they're starting to
: get that idea in their head.

I don't consider reache part of the canon because i don't feel like much effort was given towards the overall story. at all. I believe it's a strong possibillity that bungie felt forced to spit out 2 more games by microsoft, and really the studio as a whole just wanted to move on to the next big thing. Think of how epic reach could have been. Described as an absolutley massive battle in Nylund's novel, there was so much opportunity. the fact that the most heavily defended military super power known to humans was under heavy duress from ONE super carrier amazed me. There should have been hundreds of MAC stations that took it out within minutes. Why did Bungie feel the need to introduce the covenant on Reach in such an anticlimactic fashion? did anybody watch Comic Con and see their original plans and concepts? i believe they made big plans but lost motivation and switched to small. Why does Jun "detect enemy movement in the structure ahead"? Here, right off the top of my head i'll think of something more epic than that. Noble 6 is on his way down to Reach in a pelican (you're in first person sitting in back) all the sudden thousands of ships, but not just any ships, COVENANT SHIPS, come out of slipspace and start wreaking havoc. Seraphs find your pelican and start chasing you down and you have to take the gun and shoot them down until you get into the atmosphere. Damn... that would've been awesome. I'm available for work 343!!!
