The games all work as a fictional whole for me, even without the : Halsey journal. The books are just bonus official fanfic. Same with Halo : Legends. If I had to sort the books on canon tiers, I'd put Staten's book : above the rest. : Tier 1: Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST, Wars : Tier 2: Contact Harvest, Conversations, Halsey Journal : Tier 3: Rest of the books : Tier 4: Halo Legends : Tier 5: The Flood : A literal game based off the Fall of Reach would have been boring. Noble Team : returns a piece of Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn as it's been forced : back to the surface for repairs. The Halo canon is effectively written : into a hole where the games have established MC as the last Spartan, so : ANY other Spartans created in books and games that take place before Halo : 3 either have to die or be sent into slipspace. Disappointingly : predictable. When you're stuck like that the way to go is to explore side : stories like ODSTs and explore new characters like Noble Team, or even (as : Staten talked about) have a game that follows the Half-Jaw/Arbiter on a : mission right off the end of Halo 3. I mean, I'm not the only one that : noticed Bungie that up at the end of 3 right? Where a game that followed : could have followed them or the Chief? I guess that story is going to be : done by Traviss though so we'll get our nice, safe, comfortable Chief : games in Halo 4 - 6. Well, there are those issues, but there's other internally inconsistent issues within the Journal and supplementals as well. Curious just from within the games how you view the rather drastic change of the Forward Unto Dawn from Halo 3 to what we've seen in Halo 4 material so far? We're meant to believe it's supposedly the same ship, but it looks totally different between games?
