In Response To: Re: Feminist Analysis of Halo Wars (FyreWulff) : 2) I believe the Arbiter refers to her as "the female" because they : never actually find out her name. The Covenant have an extremely : simplistic pronoun system, referring to any female or male soldier and : Master Chief as "demon" in the later games. Since the Demon : label would have not been invented by the Prophets yet, the Arbiter would : refer to a civilian he has encountered simplistically like that. It : emphasizes the Elite's simplistic worldview and works better than : "your friend (they weren't friends" While I disagree that Elites have simplistic worldview, I do agree that many of them would try to simplify the nature of the enemy, especially with all the special anti-humanity hate the Prophets were sending out. This is also why I used that line, "your female" in Fistful of Arrows, because I like to think many of the most zealous Sangheilli views us, humanity, as simple beasts, male and females, etc. There was no feminist intent. And yes, Levi, good point- athough the Sangheilli eventually mention Halsey as 'the Human Sage' in my comic, I think that would be a very rare example of bringing attention to a specific human.
