Sparth, who did the Cryptum and Primordium covers, probably had goals regarding what they accomplished as well, but they still served as concept art for the game. I'm with Grim; I choose to think that this was hiding in plain sight. Especially after seeing Cortana in it the way that she is, looking radiant. She also looks the way that she did on the Halo 4 section of the Halo wall at HaloFest: mostly white. That indicates to me a healthy and happy (and enlightened) Cortana, even if only temporarily (who knows, her problem might have been fixed by some Forerunner AI or something). It'd be a downer to find out that this was just some kind of "for the heck of it" thing, meant to basically get a family photo for the Halo Universe on the cover of the encyclopedia and NOTHING more. But even if that were so, the information that we know of Halo 4's events and story are such that this could very well be happenstance-edly able to be taken from events in the game. All I know is, WE SO EXCITED!!! :D
